Tourist Attractions

South Beach--This public beach is located at the south end of Shaw Island. In the summer, this beach is a nice place to lie in the sun, build sand castles, or to eat lunch. If you enjoy camping, there are also camp sites along the bank above the beach.

Cedar Rock Biological Preserve  This 52 acre nature preserve has hiking trails and beautiful landscapes. No bikes, motorized vehicles, or pets are permitted on the trail.

Special Days

Every Fourth of July the residents of Shaw Island have a parade that runs from the community building to South Beach. After the parade, we occasionally host a few baseball games in the big field nearby.

Halloween is also a good day to come to Shaw Island. On Halloween night we get on our costumes and head down to South Beach where people have decorated campsites. It is lots of fun, and there is also lots of candy!

Every Christmas season, we host a Christmas Boutique. Residents have a chance to sell their merchandise. Visitors can find unique gifts for all of the folks back home. There are usually auctions and/or raffles as well.
